Sabon Gari Local Government Area is a vibrant LGA located within the Zaria metropolis in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is located in the town of Sabon Gari.
The name 'Sabon Gari' means 'new town' in Hausa, reflecting its history as a cosmopolitan area that grew significantly during the British colonial era. It is one of the local government areas that make up the city of Zaria and is also a district of the Zazzau Emirate Council.
The LGA has an area of 263 km² and a population of 393,300 (2006 census). It is home to a diverse population including Hausa, Fulani, and other ethnic groups, with Islam and Christianity as the main religions practiced.
